Local Memphis: How one local woman is sending “Arrows” of love to Memphis children in need

The 30-year-old woman you’re about to meet has gone on 19 mission trips. But upon returning to Memphis, she started connecting with Bluff City children who were living with homelessness, extreme poverty, or incarcerated parents. And now each day,she gives them a nest to call home away from home.

Mid-South mom stepping up to give foster children a home

One Mid-South woman is showing children and teens love and support by opening her home to those in need. Mary Katherine Hill, or MK, is a foster and adoptive mom who grew up in Memphis.

I stare at the cheeto fingerprinted pages of my notebook and smile as I think of meeting little Lucah, 1yr old, stumbling around the warm home lovingly referred to as ‘Arrows Nest,’. This home is peppered with different races, ages and backgrounds. Little Lucah with his dark black hair, brown eyes and tan skin are just one of the many tones that make up this beautiful family. MK Hill is a 27yr old single gal who put her “yes” on the table in a bold way and is mother to many.

Arrows Nest serves as a refuge of comfort and love for children in crisis in the Memphis area, and an open door for friends and neighbors who may have never experienced being welcome and accepted into the family of Christ. We host children who live here full-time, visit here short term, attend backyard bible clubs, and have an open door for children to have a safe place to play when school is out. Here, family comes in all colors, sizes, and backgrounds to support and love one another with Christ at the center of it all.
